The exhibition ‘DIVA! Italian Glamour in Fashion Jewellery’, showcased in Cape Town from 29/10 to 9/11/2022

The Italian Embassy in Pretoria inaugurated on 28 October the exhibition ‘DIVA! Italian Glamour in Fashion Jewellery”, open to the public at the “Welgemeend” gallery in Cape Town until 9 November, a unique collection of exclusive Italian jewellery creations.

The result of the collaboration between the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and Alba Cappellieri – Professor of Jewellery Design at the Milan Polytechnic and Director of the Jewellery Museum in Vicenza – and realised by, “DIVA!” showcases more than 200 extraordinary jewellery pieces in a journey from the 1950s to the present day.

The exhibition presents an Italian excellence that combines craftsmanship, design and fashion to the South African public. Each one of these three dimensions has contributed significantly to the evolution of fashion jewellery in Italy.

Thanks to its diplomatic-consular network, the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation is taking the ‘DIVA!’ exhibition to all continents to promote a classic expression of the ‘Made in Italy’ that is among the most internationally appreciated.

Italian craftsmanship combines beauty, tradition and technological innovation to offer creations of the highest quality, giving new life to conventional materials, e.g. coral, lava stone, ceramics, majolica and Murano glass, and unconventional ones, e.g. coloured plastics and resins, by employing new technologies such as three-dimensional printing.

Through this unique journey of Italian style and elegance, visitors will discover the importance of fashion jewellery in contemporary society and appreciate its high aesthetic and cultural value.
