The Municipality of Torricella Peligna (CH), within the framework of the cultural festivals John Fante Festival “The god of my father” and Piccolo Festival delle Spartenze Migrazioni e Cultura, has created a literary competition for unpublished stories, addressed to Italian or Italian authors resident abroad.
The Premio Italia Radici nel Mondo 2024 (Italy Award Roots in the World 2024) is organized as part of the initiatives of the MAECI “2024 – Year of Italian Roots in the World”, with the contribution of the Pescarabruzzo Foundation, the assud Association and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
The theme of the 2024 edition is: My multiple roots.
The Prize intends to contribute to the discussion on our migrant history, enriching it with new contents, writing new pages, inaugurating a new narrative, a new season in the relations between Italy, the Italians, and the Italian oriundi scattered all over the world.
The unpublished story must be in Italian, or in other languages with Italian translation, and must be between 10,000 and 20,000 characters, including spaces.
Jury
The jury is composed of the creators of the award, Giovanna Di Lello and Giuseppe Sommario, personalities from the publishing world, writers and emigration experts.
The president of the jury of the 2024 edition is the anthropologist Vito Teti.
Deadlines
Closing date: 31 May.
Announcement semifinalists: 8-11 August, as part of the Small Festival of Spartenze.
Winner announcement: 22-25 August, as part of the John Fante Festival.
Award ceremony: in the autumn in an institutional building.
Awards
The author of the winning work will receive a cash prize of Euro 1,000 (thousand).
All the finalists will be guaranteed publication.
