The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, in collaboration with the University of Rome “Foro Italico”, has launched the second edition of “L’Italia corre verso il futuro” (“Italy Runs Towards the Future”), a scholarship programme aimed at supporting talented international students who wish to pursue postgraduate studies in Italy.
Applications are open until 30 June 2026 (12:00 Italian Time).
The initiative reflects Italy’s commitment to attracting international talent, strengthening educational and cultural ties with African countries, and contributing to the development of the sports sector across the continent. Through advanced academic training in Italy, students will acquire the skills and qualifications needed to support the growth of sport and the training of future athletes in their home countries.
Available Degree Programmes
Scholarships are offered for the Italian-taught Master’s Degree programmes at the University of Rome “Foro Italico”:
- Master’s Degree in Sport Science and Techniques (LM-68)
- Master’s Degree in Sport Management (LM-47)
Successful candidates will have the opportunity to study at Italy’s leading university dedicated to sport, physical activity, and sports management.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements by the application deadline:
- Academic Qualifications
Candidates must hold a qualification that grants access to the chosen Master’s Degree programme.
For the Master’s Degree in Sport Science and Techniques, eligible qualifications include:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Sport and Exercise Sciences (or equivalent);
- An ISEF diploma (Italian Higher Institute of Physical Education);
- A foreign university degree in the field of sport and exercise sciences or a related discipline.

For the Master’s Degree in Sport Management, candidates must meet the admission criteria specified by the University for the programme.
- Age Requirement
Applicants must be 30 years old or younger on the closing date of the call.
- Italian Language Proficiency
Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in Italian at a minimum level of B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
Selection Process
The assessment will take into consideration:
- Compliance with the eligibility requirements outlined in the call;
- Academic and professional curriculum (curriculum vitae et studiorum);
- Personal motivation and commitment to contributing to the development of the sports sector.
