WINTER OLYMPICS AND PARALYMPICS GAMES 2026

70 years after Cortina 1956 and 20 years after Turin 2006, the Winter Olympics and Paralympics are back in Italy. The Games will be held between Milan and Cortina, the first time ever that the Winter Olympics are jointly assigned to two cities: the Olympics will take place from 6th to 22nd February 2026, while the Paralympics will start on 6th until the 15th March 2026.

The area covered by the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games will be more than 22,000 square kilometres. Two cities, Milan and Cortina, with the support of two regions – Lombardy and Veneto – and two Autonomous Provinces, Trento and Bolzano/Bozen, will join forces to realise a memorable edition of the Games. More than 3500 athletes from 93 countries will compete for a place on the podium, with record-breaking female participation.

Sixteen Olympic and six Paralympic disciplines, spread over 18 competition venues. A great novelty: the absolute debut for ski mountaineering. Milano Cortina 2026 Foundation’s goal is a sustainability-oriented edition, with 93% of the facilities already existing or temporary.
