In collaboration with Com.It.Es Pretoria, last weekend the Italian Club Pretoria hosted tournaments of two of our country’s most traditional sports: football and bowls.
The ‘Italian Sports’ Day in the World’ was launched this year by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation to promote Italian excellence in the sports sector. The Italian Embassy in Pretoria presented prizes to the winners and inaugurated the Sunday lunch, under the banner of the Mediterranean diet.
The next programmed event will be the ‘Breaking Boundaries’ symposium which will be held at the University of Cape Town on 27 September, focusing on the resilience, determination and partnerships that have enabled athletes to overcome the limits imposed by boundaries, both physical and social.
The Italian Sports’ Day will also be celebrated in Mauritius and Madagascar, thanks to our Honorary Consulates.
