Following today’s publication of the Ordinance of the Italian Ministry of Health dated 26 November 2021, travelling to Italy and transiting through Italy are banned from today for people who, in the last 14 days have been staying or transiting through the following countries: South Africa, Lesotho, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia and Eswatini.
Only Italian citizens, as well as their minor children and spouse resident in Italy before the day of publication of the ordinance are allowed to return to Italy if they are not experiencing any symptoms of COVID -19 and under the following conditions:
- Exhibition to the airlines of the Passenger Locator Form duly filled in both or from the mobile phone or in paper copy;
- Exhibition of a negative PCR test done not before 72 hours from the entering the Italian territory;
- Do a further test (antigenic or PCR) at the arrival (airport, port, etc) and stay isolated till the result is known;
- Quarantine 10 days at the address indicated in the Passenger Locator Form;
- Do a PCR test at the end of the quarantine in Italy.
Therefore, all Italian citizens temporarily present in South Africa (residing in Italy as above indicated) are strongly recommended to contact immediately the relevant airlines which are still operating flights from South Africa and the mentioned countries to Europe, to arrange at the earliest their return to Italy using the available flights.
