South Africa-ItalySummit/Indaba 2017

On the 24th and 25th of October the South Africa-Italy Summit/Indaba will take place in Johannesburg. The Summit has now reached its fourth edition and it has become a regular and important occasion to bring together representatives of the business community, economists and public authorities from Italy, South Africa and other Sub-Saharan countries.

The Summit has been realized by the Italian think-tank The European House - Ambrosetti in collaboration with the Gauteng Province and several other partners, with the patronage of the Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Italian Trade Agency and Confindustria..

Almost 40 speakers will engage in a discussion on several aspects of the economic relation between Italy, South Africa and the region in five different panels:

1. Decipher a shifting geo-economic scenario

2. Promoting railways and intermodal connectivity

3. Leaders of the Future

4. Energy investments and infrastructure for a sustainable Africa

5. "Made in Italy" meets "Made in South Africa".

South Africa is the most important commercial partner of Italy in Sub-Saharan Africa with more than 1.5 billion euros of trade in the first semester of 2017: the structure of this trade shows that it mutually reinforces the two economies.

The Summit will be once again a great opportunity to sum up on the economic relations between the two countries and to explore the way forward in order to further strengthen the reciprocal human and business relations.
