The Centre for books and reading (MiC), in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) – General Directorate for Public and Cultural Diplomacy – promotes the fourth edition of the “BookTuberPrize 2022” Contest.
The Contest aims to be an opportunity to circulate the knowledge of books among young people, to develop their skills of understanding, synthesis, critical thinking and to stimulate their digital skills, through the use of the computer.
The Contest is inspired by the new professional figures of booktubers, “video-bloggers” who share their reading experiences through the recording of videos uploaded on the net.
The aim of the Contest is to stimulate the careful and conscious reading of a book and then obtain a review, encouraging the circulation of books and the creation of young communities of readers who exchange opinions. In addition, the Contest intends to involve Italian girls and boys abroad to encourage an enriching exchange and to promote knowledge abroad of Italian publishing products.
The Contest is open to young people aged 15 to 25, living in Italy or abroad, divided into two age groups: 15/19 years and 20/25 years. Participants, after choosing and reading a book or a poetic collection, will have to describe the content through a video review of maximum 2 minutes in mp4 format. The video can be made by one, two or three people.
The thematic categories are as follows:
– Fiction: review of a novel by an Italian writer from 2000 to the present;
– Poetry: review of a poetry collection from 2000 to the present.
Please note that you can choose only books in Italian language, written by Italian authors, published by Italian publishers and in the period of time indicated. The language to be used for the presentation of the review is Italian.
Participation in the Contest is free and submissions must be made by the 2nd of May 2022. To participate you must complete the forms included in the attached document. The works be uploaded in “non-listed” mode a YouTube channel. The links, accompanied by the completed and signed participation form (Annex A) and the releases (Annex B and Annex C), must be sent to the following address: scuola.cepell@beniculturali.it.
The evaluation of the videos will be carried out by a specially appointed expert jury.
The winners can be announced during the Turin International Book Fair (Salone Internazionale del Libro) 2022 or with an event created ad hoc and will be awarded for each age group:
– 1st classified: good books of 500 euros;
– 2nd classified: good books of 300 euros;
– 3rd classified: good books of 200 euros.
The bookstore where you can spend the voucher will be identified with the Prize “May of books” (Maggio dei libri) 2022 edition.
